The weekly list of free professional development events for the association community…

free professional development for association management professionals & community

I love the role of content curator, haven’t you noticed? It’s the wannabe librarian in me. And I especially love it when others do it for me—those are the newsletters I value most. Now, if only more associations did this. rasa.io explains why all associations should help members filter the noise with personalized content curation.

WBT Systems explains how to earn long-term loyalty (active loyalty) in the fickle lifelong learning market. Hmm, a personalized curated newsletter might be one thing to turn passively loyal members and customers into actively loyal ones.

“Customization” has become a dirty word in association technology and for good reason. Ann McDermott at DelCor Technology Solutions discusses the many perils of customizing association software.

Over at theNIRD.org, Ben Martin, CAE explains why the Personify/Wild Apricot deal is brilliant.

Don’t let your eyes gloss over the news about the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which takes effect in May 2018. Terrance Barkan, CAE, of GLOBALSTRAT, explains why your organization needs to take steps to prepare for this new regulation.

Ok, maybe this next post is self-serving but I know many organizations (for- and non-profit) still do not understand how content marketing can help them develop and deepen relationships with prospects, customers, and members. Content Marketing Institute shares nine stats that will make you want to invest in content marketing.

If you’re a cat owner, you must listen to this episode of Fresh Air featuring cat behavior specialist Sarah Ellis—fascinating stuff.

That’s it for good reads, now it’s time for this week’s list of free professional development for the association community.

If your organization has a webinar scheduled in the near future, please send me the link. I’ll be happy to feature it as long as it’s not too product-centric.
